End of Class

As this class comes to a close, I have learned many important things that can also be used in the classroom. I have a greater understanding of both wikis and blogs. Also, I enjoyed learning about screencasts. I will use this feature to create demos and post them to my wiki. What I really want to work on is finding ways to make screencasts and podcasts part of the students' assignments too.

In particular, I actually enjoyed created my delicious page as of late. I think I will follow through with that so as to have bookmarks that can be accessed at many different sites. It will be for more my own use though vs. sharing with others.

Finally, I found this class useful, because with Web 2.0 there are so many features out there that can allow students to be more interactive. Finding the time to explore these features can be difficult. However, I learned many new things in that class which I hope to incorporate.

Week 5--Putting It All Together

Well, this week we tried Oovoo for our weekly study team. I will say that this program was quite interesting. We only were able to get three members at the meeting, because one person couldn't get connected due to computer issues. However, I was impressed with the video conferencing and how clear and easy it was to see everyone. As for sound, there were a few static issues, but nothing that inconvenienced our flow of speaking.

As for creating the wiki, I have a lot of use with wikis at this point. The one thing I am working on is using more of the multimedia within the wiki. I just added a neat slideshow of pictures. I had the students collaborate on the wiki for class, and I found they did a nice job with it. PBwiki actually has tightened their security which made me feel more confident in being able to view the changes that are being made by each student. The read/write web is paying off in my classroom!

Week 4--Podcasting

http://www.screencast.com/t/cMFzAvrh

Here is a link to my screencast.

I was impressed with the easability and logic of using jing. I found the steps easy to follow when creating my screencast. Then, posting my file to screencast was also systematic and quick. I have already uploaded my screencast to my class wiki for the students to use as a resource!

I also liked being able to start over and cancel the screencasts I screwed up on when recording my video. I found this program in general to be very convenient and easy to share with others!!
